Il Capo Pizzeria Information

Walking into Il Capo Pizzeria feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that locals quietly rely on when they want something consistently good without the fuss. The location on E Shea Blvd is easy to find, with a relaxed vibe that makes it just as suitable for a casual weeknight dinner as it is for a laid-back weekend lunch. From the moment you walk in, there’s a comforting mix of warm lighting, the smell of fresh dough, and the low hum of conversation that sets the tone.

The menu leans heavily into classic Italian-American comfort, with pizza naturally taking center stage. Their pies strike a nice balance between crispy and chewy, with a crust that has just enough bite to hold up under generous toppings. One standout during my visit was a traditional pepperoni pizza, where the edges curled just enough to crisp up, releasing that familiar, slightly spicy oil that pizza lovers look for. The sauce tasted fresh rather than overly sweet, and the cheese had that perfect melt without feeling greasy.

Beyond pizza, the menu offers a solid range of pasta dishes and appetizers. A plate of baked ziti came out bubbling hot, layered with rich marinara and a blend of cheeses that felt indulgent without being overwhelming. The garlic knots are worth mentioning too-soft, buttery, and just garlicky enough to keep you reaching for another. It’s the kind of place where the menu doesn’t try to reinvent Italian food but instead focuses on getting the classics right.

Service here tends to be friendly and straightforward. On my visit, the staff checked in just enough to be attentive without hovering, and food arrived at a steady pace even during a busier dinner rush. That kind of consistency shows up often in customer reviews, where diners mention reliability as a big plus.

The atmosphere isn’t flashy, but that’s part of the appeal. It feels approachable and unpretentious, making it a comfortable spot for families, small groups, or even a solo meal. While it may not be aiming for fine dining, Il Capo Pizzeria clearly understands what keeps people coming back: solid food, a welcoming environment, and a menu that delivers exactly what you hope for when you’re craving pizza in Scottsdale.

What People's Say About Place

Food was delicious. Portions were huge, and although everyone else was getting the $9.95 spaghetti with meatballs, there were too many interesting things on the menu. Couldn't hardly get to the pizza, so breakfast pizza!

Il Capo Pizzeria in Scottsdale is an absolute gem. The pizza was phenomenal—perfectly cooked crust, high-quality toppings, and flavors that feel both classic and elevated. You can tell real care goes into every pie. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, making it a great spot to sit down and enjoy a meal. I also want to give a special shoutout to the bus boy, Shindo Begay. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly, which really added to the overall experience. Between the amazing food and the excellent service, Il Capo Pizzeria is easily a place I’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend!

Great place, very good pizza. We had the 18” Meatballs pizza. As you can see, it’s absolutely gigantic. We couldn’t finish it

Must try a spice or a whole pie. I get pizza everywhere i travel trying to find that authentic pizza I experienced in Italy. This place was really close to that. A bit pricey but have to consider I'm in Scottsdale and was a huge pie. Was a 9 out of 10

Excellent little pizza place. Really cool authentic vibe inside. Prices are very reasonable and servings are substantial. The food was all excellent. Pizza was cooked perfect and very flavorful. Calzone was huge, soft, and delicious. The Arancini was so good and like nothing I’ve had. The wine was fantastic and half off on Wednesday for the bottle. Our waiter Deangelo was the only server and bartender for the whole place and he did great. He was attentive, friendly, and very informative. I can’t wait to eat here again and try some of the other things on the menu.

Absolutely no complaints across the table!! Everything was incredible and so much bang for your buck! Diangelo the waiter/bartender/host was an absolute rockstar and was a lot of fun and a joy to meet. The food was fantastic and banger portions! I got the Calzone with Mixed Greens Salad (I managed 1/4 of the Calzone and am thrilled to have left overs!), my 13y/o got the Cauliflower Crust Pizza with Bacon/Pepperoni/Chicken (as a GF teen he has a hard time finding good food sometimes but he loved this pizza and was thrilled he had choices!). My husband got the Fig and Prosciutto Pizza ("it was great, fantastic, amazing"), and my 10y/o got the kids Spaghetti with Meatball (ate the whole thing and wanted seconds!) Would absolutely go back!

This is my second review of Il Capo. The food is amazing. I know eat here at least once a week. The pizza is great. The pasta is next level. The deserts are (gelato) awesome. The service was a bit lacking, but that is fixed now. Please try this restaurant. It is one of Scottsdale's best.

Just popped into Il Capo for a little pizza and wine after a long workday. Michael was great- recommended the pesto pizza which I really enjoyed. Service is always good here. Definitely try the pizza, arancini and orecchiette (which my favorite)
